2017 Rising Stars Competition June 3rd

On Saturday we spent the entire day in Blaine, MN at the 2017 Northern Blades Rising Stars Figure Skating competition. Keara skated in 2 events which were a level above her norm.. in other words she skated up a level. She normally skates at No Test, but Saturday she skated Pre-Preliminary Well Balanced. The difference is she started landing her axel a month ago and SHE decided to skate at that level in competition regardless of her axel being new.

Keara went into the competition knowing it was going to be a tough one. She knew that the other kids competing were most likely going to be more experienced, and older. This did NOT scare her away.

Event #1 Pre-Preliminary Compulsory. She placed 3rd out of 6

Event #2 Pre-Preliminary Free Skate Well Balanced. She placed 5th out of 12. Not bad for an 8 year old skating up a level! She landed 1 out of 2 axels!!! It was her first time doing them in a competition. To say my husband and I are proud is an understatement. Blessed for amazing coaches who believe in her and helped her to get one step closer to her goal!

That is our day in review. It was a long, fun, productive day. Now that this competition is over we are starting a NEW journey. Keara is retiring her “Potter Waltz” and getting a NEW song for her Freeskate program. In addition to that we have retired our old club jacket and are beginning a NEW journey with another club.We have also made a coaching move and asked our secondary coach Tamarah to be Keara’s Primary coach and she said YES!

We are very excited to start this next Chapter in our lives.
